Overview

  • Coursedog’s Scribe Generator converts existing requirements and their rules into Degree Works scribe with a single click.

  • The ability to convert requirements to scribe is useful for copying Simple Requisites/Requirements in Curriculum Mangament to the Scribe application.

  • It appears as a “Convert to Scribe” button in the Simple Requirements view. You can learn more about simple requirements here.

  • If you don’t see a “Convert to Scribe” button in your UI and would like to use it, talk to your Customer Success representative.

How to Do It

Follow the below steps to convert a requirement into scribe.

Step 1

  • Navigate to the program whose requirements you wish to convert to scribe.

  • DO NOT enter “Edit” mode; you cannot convert to scribe when in editing mode.

Step 2: Click the toggle to open the requirement you wish to convert to scribe.

Step 3: Click “Convert to Scribe” to convert the existing requirement into a scribe block.

Step 4: Select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste directly into your Degree Works degree audit solution.

Scribe Anatomy

  • When you convert a requirement block to scribe, the scribe block will include both the requirement rules as well as a “block header”.

  • The block header is based on the requirement name (e.g. Major in Accounting), the school name, and the effectiveDate (year) range (startTerm and endTerm) for the given program (e.g. 2020-2022).

  • This header is included for ALL requirement blocks/text we generate.

  • The below screenshot shows a complete scribe conversion result, with the block header at top and the requirement rules underneath.
