Overview

  • You can use a Scheduling Scorecard and Schedule Health Dashboard to track schedule health metrics.

  • The Scheduling Scorecard is a point-in-time assessment of the effectiveness of an institution’s scheduling processes using key metrics like section fill rates, seat utilization, and schedule distribution.

  • With the Schedule Health Dashboard, schools can visualize trends term-over-term, benchmark department performance, and identify operational inefficiencies.

  • These features enable intentional resource allocation and improve alignment between course offerings and student demand.

  • Both features respect the settings configured within “Analytics Configuration” including “fill rate definition” and “section statuses”. This may lead to slightly different results than the reports in Academic Scheduling.

  • In order to view these features, a user needs the “View Schedule Health Metrics” permission set to “Allow”.

Understanding the Scheduling Scorecard

PATH: Course Demand Projections > Courses > Scheduling Scorecard

Overview

  • Once a term's enrollment window closes, a "Scheduling Scorecard" is automatically generated and becomes available in the “Courses” tab via a button on the upper-right corner.

  • This modal provides a snapshot of the institution's performance in the most recent scheduling cycle and can be used to identify successes, uncover opportunities for improvement, and refine your academic operations strategy.

  • The scheduling scorecard surfaces the term-over-term change (i.e. % increases and decreases) of each metric from the last like term to help track progress.

Included Data Points

  • General Summary – Number of scheduled sections and courses

  • Section Fill Rates – Number and % of Balanced, Overfilled, and Underfilled sections

  • Seat Utilization – Average % of actual enrollment in relation to the room capacity

  • Schedule Distribution – % of sections offered in defined meeting time windows

  • Department Size – Number of courses and sections per department, with visual bar graphs

Navigating the Schedule Health Dashboard

Overview

  • The “Schedule Health” dashboard gives you a clear, data-driven view of how effectively you're building and managing your class schedules across terms.

  • By tracking changes in key metrics from the “Scheduling Scorecard” over time, schools can monitor performance and identify trends at both the institutional and departmental level.

  • This helps surface inefficiencies, highlight areas needing attention, and support data-backed decisions to improve scheduling practices, optimize resource use, and better align course offerings with student demand.

Institution

  1. The "Institutiontab provides term over term changes in section count, course count, section fill rates, schedule distribution, and seat utilization.

  2. By default, the most recent 9 terms with a “Scheduling Scorecard” will be surfaced in order to provide a longitudinal assessment.

Departments

  1. The “Departments” tab breaks down the number of courses and sections offered by a department over time.

  2. Select multiple departments for a comparative view.

  3. This view can be helpful to understand how departments are growing over time.
