How Syllabus Groups, Templates & Forms Interact

Overview

  • Each Syllabus Group supports one Template and as many Forms as needed.

  • When a Form is created, it matches the Template exactly. Users can edit the fields and configuration options on Forms if they have the correct permissions and if that field allows configuration.

  • Faculty will select the correct Form for their academic unit and create their Syllabus using the Form.

Flow Diagram

Overview

How how exactly the flow/syllabus hierarchy looks will vary depending on how your institution needs to use them, but two potential paths are demonstrated below.

Option 1

One syllabus group and template determined at the institution level, with departments having their own forms – and instructors using those forms to create their syllabi.

Option 2

A Syllabus Group is created at the institution level and then cloned to create College/School/Program-specific templates.
