Overview
Syllabus Groups form the top layer of Syllabus Management.
Syllabus Groups contain one Template and any Forms built from that Template.
Most often, one Syllabus Group will be created for one Academic Year.
Each Syllabus Group will contain one template with the latest version of institutional policies and with that year’s default syllabus layout and information. From there, each department or institutional unit will create its form from the template using the latest institutional policies.

Making a New Syllabus Group vs. Cloning
If you aren’t sure which route to choose, note that clones are the way to go if you’re looking to establish and maintain the Syllabi Hierarchy.
For example, you can set institutional fields on the institutional syllabus, and then clone into the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering syllabi templates.
From there, you can update the College of Arts and Sciences and then clone into the English Department, Physics Department, and Philosophy Department for further control.

To restart with a blank Template, delete a Syllabus Group and create a new one, or delete all of the cards within a Template and begin with a blank Template.
