Overview

Just as you can customize page content, certain styling aspects of the catalog are also customizable via website settings.

Default Website Settings vs. Website Settings for Individual Catalogs

  • You can set a default style that can easily be applied to all catalogs, but you can further customize individual catalogs.

  • To customize your default style, go to: Catalog > Settings > Website.

  • To customize the style for an individual catalog, go to: Catalog > Settings > Catalogs > Website Settings.

  • To return an individual catalog to your default settings at any time, go to Catalog > Settings > Catalogs > Website Settings and select the red "Reset to Defaults" button at the bottom.

Overview

You can customize the following navbar features: background color, institution logo, institution name, theme navbar link color, and theme navbar background color.

Background Color

This will appear on the top left of your page.

Institution Name

This will appear on the top left, next to your logo.

If your institution name already appears in your logo and you wish to keep the name hidden to avoid repeating it, you can use the “home link type” drop down to determine if you want only text to appear; text and a logo; or logo only.

This setting controls the color of links in the navigation bar.

Theme Navbar Background Color

Controls the color of the navbar background.

Fonts

Overview

  • You can assign a Google font to all headings, text, and navigation links within the catalog.

  • You can choose a typeface, color, and font weight for the h1, h2, h3, text, and navigation links.

Adding Fonts

  1. Visit the Google fonts page.

  2. Locate the font you wish to use.

  3. Select a font weight, if desired.

  4. Click “Select this style” next to the desired font treatment. If this doesn’t automatically open a side panel for you to view the font’s URL, click the “View selected families” icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.

  5. In the “<link>” view, highlight the URL that comes after “link href=” and before “&display=swap”. For example: https://fonts.googleapis.com/css2?family=Macondo&family=Roboto+Flex https://fonts.googleapis.com/css2?family=Titillium+Web

  6. Copy the highlighted URL.

  7. Paste the URL into the “Typeface file link path” field.

  8. Type the name for the font into the “Default font face for whole website” field.

Navigation Links

  • You can customize the color for each link.

  • This color will also be applied to the links of search results.

Footer

Overview

The footer can be used to add custom links to institution-specific sites, such as the institution’s home page, additional policy pages, terms of use pages, and any others

Hide Download Catalog as PDF

  • Website settings also includes a toggle to “hide download catalog as PDF” from the footer of the catalog. Toggling this to “yes” prevents display of “download catalog as PDF”.

  • You can learn more about Catalog PDF generation here.

Note About Custom Code

  • Use of institutionally-injected custom code within your catalog website can result in overwriting critical Catalog settings.

  • If you elect to use custom HTML or CSS on your website, ensure you have extracted and applied only the relevant areas of code to avoid override errors.
