Overview

  • Faculty Workload Management includes two categories of workload: Teaching Workload and Non-teaching Workload.

  • Currently, these categories are not customizable – no categories can be added, and the category names cannot be edited.

  • We’ll use the below screenshot as an example of an Instructor’s Fall 2025 Workload.

  • The Expected Load is 14 units.

  • The Total Load is 16 units, making the Current Workload Percentage 114.29%

How It Works: Teaching Workload

  • Teaching Workload includes all sections in Coursedog Scheduling.

  • Faculty Workload Management will use Workload Calculations (see this article for information on creating those Workload Calculations) to assign Workload to each Section in Academic Scheduling.

  • In the example above, the Instructor is teaching four sections in Spring 2025, with two receiving three Workload Units and two receiving four Workload Units. Those values are based on the Workload Calculations mentioned above.

  • This Instructor’s Teaching Workload for Spring 2025 is 14 Workload Units, which will be reflected in the Instructor Dashboard.

How It Works: Non-teaching Workload

  • Non-teaching Workload includes all Releases assigned to an Instructor in a given term from the Instructor Profile.

  • Read more about Releases.

  • In the example above, the Instructor has one Release titled “Political Science Undergrad Advisor” assigned for the term.

  • Therefore, their Non-teaching Workload total for Spring 2025 is two (2) Workload Units.

  • Non-teaching Workload does not take into account any Sections assigned to the Instructor in Academic Scheduling.

  • This Instructor’s Non-teaching Workload for Spring 2025 is two (2)  Workload Units, which will be reflected in the Instructor Dashboard.
