Overview
See this article for an overview of Teaching Workload and Non-teaching Workload (Releases).
Faculty Workload Management uses Releases to track Non-teaching Workloads like Research, Service, Advising, and Leave.
These Releases are managed on the Instructor Profile for each instructor on a term-by-term basis.
When a Release is created, it is immediately factored into an Instructor’s workload – the sum of Teaching Workload and Non-teaching Workload is compared to Expected Load to determine if they are Overloaded, Underloaded, or meeting their Expected Load for the Term.
How to Do It
To add a Release for an Instructor:
Navigate to Academic Scheduling > Instructor Dashboard.
Select the Term for which you would like to add the Release.
Click an instructor’s name.
Click the blue “Add Release” button.
When you click “Add Release,” a blank Release line will appear in the “Non-Teaching Workload” section of the Instructor Profile.
Click the “Edit” button, and the Edit Release modal will appear.
Give the release a Name, select Release Type, assign the release a number of workload units, and add any details.
To save a Release, click the blue “Save” button in the “Edit Release” modal AND click the blue “Update” button on the Instructor profile.
Downstream Impact
The updated Workload value for the release will automatically update the Instructor’s total Workload and Current Workload Percentage for the Term.
