Ensuring Your Public Catalog is Accessible - All Catalogs

Overview

  • In order for a web page to be considered accessible, it must be able to be read by a screen reader, which is a tool that translates a website’s content into audio or braille for blind users.

  • At Coursedog, we prioritize accessibility to ensure that all of your students have access to your catalog, but we can’t do it alone.

  • To ensure accessibility, there is one key step that you must take whenever building or editing pages in your catalog – use the WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool.

How It Works

  • WAVE runs a comprehensive check of your webpage and shows you any points at which a screen reader gets stuck.

  • To use WAVE, simply paste your webpage’s url here.

  • WAVE shows you a summary of all of the errors and alerts on your webpage, which you can easily go back and fix in our catalog builder.
