Overview

Private events enable users to host events without having their event details accessible to users lacking permission, or having the event advertised on the public-facing event website.

Requesting a Private Event

Any User Making an Event Request

  • To request a private event, follow the event request steps detailed here.
  • Be certain to check the “Private Event” field when completing the “Request New Event” form.
  • Private events will follow the same approval workflow as other events of the same Event Type. For more information on Event Types, look here.

Viewing Private Events

Any User Viewing Events Within Coursedog

  • Once approved, private events will be subject to two separate views depending on the user’s role permission settings. To learn how to update role permissions, read below.
  • If the user’s role permission settings do not allow them to view private event details the event will appear as follows:

  • All fields with the exception of “Event Name”, “Featured Event”, and “Private Event” are redacted.
  • It is clear to the user that they are viewing a private event given that the “Private Event” field is set to “Yes”.
  • If the User’s role permission settings allow them to view private event details, the event will appear as follows:

Event detail fields are no longer redacted. It is still clear to the user that they are viewing a private event given that the “Private Event” field is set to “Yes”.

Granting Users Permission to View Private Events

Admin

  • To grant users role-based access to view private event details, administrators must navigate to “Event Management Roles” under “Event Settings”.
  • Select the role you want to configure user permissions for, such as “Super Admin".

Select “Events:”

Toggle “View Private Event Details” to “Allow” or “Deny:”

By default, “View Private Event Details” will be set to “Deny”.
